Western Wear Round Up!

One trend that can spotted almost everywhere right now is the incorporation of western wear. Fringe, sued, Native American style prints and vivid earth tones are all featured with these great styles.

Big time designers have been incorporating touches of western style flair into their Spring 2011 collections, Ralph Lauren has mastered the art:

Fringe, earth tones, and suede all give these pieces a western flair. The cut and silhouette keeps them contemporary.

DHstyles has certainly joined this rodeo ready trend!

Vivid earth tones combine with a Native American style print to give this piece that feel of a bygone era style. Waterfall ruffle sleeves and form fitting silhouette keep it contemporary enough for the modern fashionista!

Talk about old west revival! This piece looks like it came straight off the heroine of an old spaghetti western flick! This dress takes the western style and adds some glam with the rhinestones on the flap pockets and the sexy off shoulder style. Subtle but stunning!

And what kind of cowgirl would you be without some distressed looking jeans to throw on with those cute boots and plaid tops? You'll look like you just came from the chicest farm in town!

Putting together a modern look with an old west flavor is a cinch with pieces like this! Reviving this old west flair is not only trendy right now, but it's also a way of celebrating American culture by putting it in the limelight!

Trend Watch: Decade Revival!

2011 Spring & Summer Trends:

Recalling the Decades of Female Empowerment

Trend #1: 1970’s Glam

The "second-wave" of the Women's Movement in the U.S. refers to a period of feminist activity that lasted up until the late 1970s.

Whereas first-wave feminism focused mainly on overturning legal obstacles to equality (voting rights for example), second-wave feminism addressed a wide range of issues such as sexuality, family, and women’s’ place in the professional world.

What the Spring/Summer 2011 1970’s trend focuses on: That essence of an era gone by…Are we as women craving more empowerment in the modern world?

The 70’s trend this season encompasses a multitude of looks and feels. For instance, you could go with a laid back Boho look , or with a more demure look that might encompass the attitude of a sophisticated 1970’s fashion icon like Bianca Jagger.

The Boho look is everywhere right now! Celebrities like Paris Hilton (pictured left), Nicole Richie, Lindsey Lohan, and Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen have been spotted, repeatedly, sporting this trend. Not only does this look revive the carefree and empowered look that women of the 1970’s had, but it’s also a great everyday look for the modern woman. Sport a chic maxi dress like the one pictured above, throw in a fringe bag, some mismatched bangles, braid a bit of your hair and voila! You’re entire chic look just came together in minutes!

Mismatched Bangles are great for a Boho style or any look really! This an incredibly versatile piece, great for any wardrobe.

Trend #2: Punk Fashion

In the words of Debbie Harry, a central female figure in the punk rock music movement of the 1970’s and 80’s, “If a band full of men is on stage and an audience of girls is screaming then everything is as it should be...But if it's a girl on stage then suddenly everything is cheap because I'm a girl and they're not used to that.” Women involved in the punk rock ferociously challenged traditional views of what a woman could and could not do, achieve, and be. No wonder today’s ambitious modern woman would be drawn towards reviving the style of this pivotal movement.

A popular trend most fitting the bold woman willing to take a risk. This look can be detailed with lots of accessories and layering, or you can play it down. A pair of red pumps, black jeans with a studded waist band, a white tank and some mismatched belts, and you’re set! A great everyday look that is sexy and makes a statement.
